Alice left us in the early hours of February 2, 2010 just a few weeks short of her 86th Birthday. Predeceased by her husband David in February 2005, and son-in-law Brian Porter in July 2006, Alice leaves behind her family and a great many friends. She is survived by her son Jim, his wife Cheryl (Court), daughters Beverly, Sharon and husband Danny, granddaughter Kathy and fiancée Doug Pirie, granddaughter Jennifer and partner Shane Reid, and last of all Monty, Jim\'s yellow lab. Alice was always absolutely devoted to her family and will be sorely missed. One of Alice\'s great joys was spending special times with her granddaughters Kathy and Jennifer. Whether it was birthdays, Christmas or the three of them sleeping underneath the stars on warm summer nights, it was absolutely precious. Alice was also blessed with the perfect daughter-in-law. Especially in later years Cheryl was always there, whether it was helping her with shopping, driving her to medical appointments, mowing the lawn and most importantly, just being a caring and wonderful friend. During the Second World War Alice proudly served in the Airforce. One of her other interests was working at the Koksilah Forest Nursery where her favourite job was driving the tractor and tending the millions of seedlings she was so proud of.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Sanders, Dr. Seymour and the staff at Sunridge who helped make Alice\'s last weeks as comfortable as possible. No service by request. The family will host an open house to celebrate Alice\'s life on Saturday, February 6, 2010 between 1-4 PM at 3364 Cowichan Lake Road, Duncan.

GERSTHOFER, Robert Sunday, 31 Jan 2010

Cowichan News Leader Pictorial Duncan, BC

Gersthofer, Robert June 18, 1954 – January 31, 2010. Passed away after a brief, second, courageous battle with Cancer. Bob will be incredibly missed by his loving friend and wife, Glenda of 33 years. He will also be terribly missed by his son Shaun 19, who he was so proud of. They shared their love of music by listening to Bob’s old, large collection of records or by listening to Shaun play his guitar and drums right to the end. During his life and illness Bob was especially touched by his caring friends. Warren and Diane, Roseanne and Bill, Marie and Charlie and Bonnie and Bill provided unrelenting support and friendship during his very difficult time. He will be missed by his many other friends and nieces and nephews. We would like to thank all the staff at Cowichan District Hospital and Home Nursing for their exceptional and special care of Bob. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Murray Woods for his dedication to Bob’s health. Bob has always credited Dr. Woods for saving his life with his first battle with Cancer in 1998. Bob was a very talented man with a great sense of humor and courage despite all his health challenges. He was an amazing soap stone carver and pursued his dream of building an Endurance 35’ sailboat in Prince George which we brought to Victoria in 1987. He loved sailing. His final project was a rebuild of a 100 year old house. Bob had a career as a Power Engineer which he enjoyed and spent his final years of work at Victoria General Hospital.

The loneliness with out you.
The ache deep in our hearts:
We’ve nothing left but memories.
With them we’ll never part.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday February 7th at 2760 Lowery Road in Duncan from 1-4p.m. Love Glenda and Shaun
Online condolences may be offered at
www.hwwallcecbc.com

STREET, Patricia Friday, 29 Jan 2010

Cowichan News Leader Pictorial Duncan, BC

 STREET, Patricia Grace (Fisher) Rose
Mom was born November 5, 1934 and passed away on January 29, 2010 at the Cowichan District Hospital.
She was born in Mayo, Yukon and loved the north and the outdoors.
Patricia is predeceased by our dad Richard R Rose, her son Tylor C.
