He leaves behind Alice (nee Startin), his wife and constant companion to whom he was married in 1951 in St. Eugenia Church, Stockholm, Sweden, where they resided for two years. He also leaves their second son, Hal Stovall and their three daughters, Amy Watkins, Elin Majuri, Emelie Baldazzi, together with their respective spouses, and nine grandchildren, all of the lower mainland. Their first child, Robert Jr. was killed in an automobile accident in 1973 at the age of nineteen. Robert was born in Columbus, Mississippi, the second of two sons of Adam Tonquin Stovall and Julia Chandler Stovall. As a boy, Robert lived in Havana, Cuba, Louisville, KY, Mobile, AL, St. Louis, MO and Comox, BC, where his parents moved in 1944. He leaves many relatives in the United States. A University of British Columbia Commerce graduate, where he was affiliated with Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, Robert worked for the Economic Cooperation Administration in Frankfurt, Germany, MacMillan Bloedel, Northern Asbestos and Building Supplies and was then Founder-President of Steel-Bilt Industries in Port Coquitlam, BC. Subsequent to its sale in 1968, the family moved from West Vancouver, BC to Burlington, ON, where he served as Vice-President and Director of Robertson Building Systems of Hamilton, ON for whom he built and managed an Ontario manufacturing plant. After an early official retirement to Comox in 1972, Robert’s life remained an extremely active one as a Roman Catholic, businessman, farmer, sailor, tennis player, author, weaver and volunteer, most of which activities he shared hand-in-hand with his wife Alice. The entire family extends its gratitude to the many friends and caregivers for their love and support during Robert’s life and illness.
A Funeral Mass will be said at the Catholic Church of the Ascension in Parksville, BC on Wednesday, February 10th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation, Vancouver Island, 2410 Lee Ave Victoria, BC V8R 6V5.
YATES FUNERAL SERVICE & CREMATORIUM
(250-248-5859) in care of arrangements.

HORPESTAD, KENNETH Tuesday, 26 Jan 2010

 Parksville Qualicum Beach News Parksville

 HORPESTAD,
KENNETH PHILLIP

November 28, 1927-
January 26, 2010

Born in Broderick,
Saskatchewan, Ken passed away peacefully in his sleep.
