MAVIS BARBARA Woodrow Walsh March 30, 1939 - January 13, 2010 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Mavis Barbara Woodrow Walsh. Mavis was born at Paddington Hospital and raised with her brothers (William, Terry, Samuel) in London, England. After immigrating to Canada Mavis married Robert James Walsh (November 07, 1940 - July 5, 2000 ) and created a family of three daughters; Susan (Joel) Branchaud, Karen (Edward) Wormald, Patricia Patrick (Rob Snyder), and four grandchildren; Carl Beshara, Tiffany Beshara, Jared Walsh, Michael Patrick. We would like to thank those who assisted the family in the last years of her life , Dr. Mestelman,Susan Neufeldt from elderly outreach, Cec, Donna, Sharon, and Linda from Memorial Pavilion at Jubilee hospital, and a special thank you to Dr.Michelle Fretz and her staff for always having the time for mum. At the family\'s\' request there will be no service, family and friends will have a celebration at a later date

Passed on January 3rd, 2010 in Victoria Hospice RJH from complications of ALS. He lived a fulfilling life and was firm in the idea that he’d done all he wanted to do in this life. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Please in lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the ALS Society of BC. A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday January 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

Vic Peters, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed December 31st, 2009 in Victoria, BC. He is survived by his mother Isabelle Peters, sister Patricia Kennedy, nieces Vanessa and Janelle, and nephews Fernando and Nicklaus. A memorial service will be held in his hometown of London, Ontario in the spring.
Vic’s life revolved around music, particularly the music of Jimi Hendrix. Over the years he came know Jimi’s sister Janie and was an avid collector of Hendrix memorabilia and wrote many articles on Jimi’s life and times.
Friends could always find Vic at Harpo’s Cabaret in the 90’s, catching up with visiting musicians/friends he had interviewed while hosting a radio show during his studies at Fanshawe College in London.
Vic’s family and friends would like to thank the nurses and staff at the RJH Renal Unit for caring for him so well over the years!
He was loved by many and will be missed.
Donations are gratefully being accepted by the Victoria Hospital Foundation, RJH Renal Unit in Vic’s honour.

GEORGE ALFRED SMITH August 4, 1925 to
December 5, 2009

After a lengthy illness, our husband and father was taken from us. He is survived by his wife, Janet, children Dale (Debbie), Lyn (Gordy), Wayne (Liz), Kevin (Janice), Lynda (Norm), and Randy. He will be also be greatly and sadly missed by his six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his good friend and brother-in-law George; as well as many other friends and relatives.

Born and raised in Victoria, he lived there all his life, the latter years in Metchosin on his acreage which he loved with a passion.

As a WW11 veteran, he served with the BC Dragoons and spent a brief part of his service overseas.
There will be a Celebration of Life on December 27, 2009 from 1:00-3:00pm at the Metchosin Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Goodbye Dad, we love you and we will miss you.

Peter passed away peacefully, at the Lodge at Broadmead in Victoria, BC, sitting comfortably in his recliner chair on November 07, 2009. Peter will be laid to rest in High River, Alberta, alongside his wife Lorraine.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Kathleen (Kitty) Jeanette Kwasnycia on June 10, 2009.
Kitty was born in New Westminster on March 30, 1930. She was predeceased by her mother Hilda Young in 1988, her brothers; Paul, Neal, David and sister Joan. Also predeceased by her only son Lawrence (Larry) in 2001 and her husband Fred in 2002.
Kitty is survived by her 3 daughters; Lori Ogden (Rod), Lynne Barber (Jim), and Leah Butler (Dan), 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Kitty spent 25 years as a Sooke Smokette and several years with the Sooke Community Association. She enjoyed coaching boys and girls softball and teaching acrobatics in th late 50s.
Kitty worked for many years, retiring in 1991.
Heart felt thanks to Stan and Dennis, Bill and Ruby Stephenson, Jerry and Liz Daly, Wally Winchur, Clare Smith, Brenda Armitage, Bill and Linda Barnicott, Terry Barber, Rosa Hefty, Martha Moore, and everyone else in Sandpiper Place, Dr. Thomas Vally and staff and the wonderful staff at Peoples Pharmacy. Many thanks to Donna Lindsey for her love and friendship, and all the help and support from the wonderful volunteers at Sooke Hospice.

Our dear Mom and Nana passed away peacefully after a short stay at Victoria Hospice. Bev was predeceased by her husband Jim (2002) and her daughter Shelley (2008). She will be remembered and sadly missed by her daughters Judy (Earl), Glenda, son-in-law Bob, brother Keith, sister-in-law Helen and numerous grand children and great-grand children. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 172 and the Eagles Aerie #12. Bev retired from Safeway in 1992 and enjoyed her numerous casino bus trips. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria Hospice Society or Canadian Cancer Society.
