Margaret was a caregiver most of her life for people and animals alike. Having a special compassion for animals, she took in many strays and rescues from the SPCA over the years. She loved to cook and to bake. She could make a gourmet meal out of next to nothing and there was dessert on the table every night. She was an avid gardener and grew beautiful flowers in the yard of every home she lived in. Mom also enjoyed knitting and made many socks, touques, mitts and sweaters for her family and others until her arthritis wouldn’t allow her to knit any longer. For many years she would pack up the camper or trailer, turn into a snowbird and they would head south for the winter. Mom spent much of her life hobby farming and cooking in logging camps in the Caribou, the north and the Fraser Valley. In 1993 they moved from Agassiz to Cache Creek to enjoy the drier climate, where she lived until 2006 when she was moved into the Long Term Care Facility at the Ashcroft Hospital, until her passing. She will be sadly missed by Tex, her husband of 52 years and her children Dawn, Ken, Bev and Linda and their families. No service by request. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated. </div> <div style=\"background-color: #eee; font-size: 0.6em; padding: 4px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; height: 1.4em;\"> <div style=\"float: left;\"> <span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #006;\">Connon, Dolores</span> <span style=\"color: #bb0000;\">Saturday, 07 Nov 2009</span> </div> <div style=\"float: right;\"> Ashcroft Cache Creek Journal Ashcroft, BC </div> </div> <div style=\"float:right; width: 80px; border-style: solid; border-width: 1px; padding:4px; margin-left: 9px;\"> <img src=\"http://www12.bcnewsgroup.com/images/obituploads/ashcroft/MomPicWeb.jpg\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photo of Connon, Dolores\"> </div> <div style=\"font-size: 0.6em; margin-bottom: 1em; min-height:110px;\"> CONNON – Dolores Lucille (Bonnie) Connon born August 23rd 1927 in South Vancouver passed away November 7th 2009 at the Ashcroft Health Site at the age of 82 years. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Art and Bunty Tegart, brother Glen and sister Barb. Gordon was born in Invermere BC, later moved north to Fraser Lake and Prince George , finishing high school when the family moved to Ashcroft. Gordon worked as a heavy duty mechanic by trade at numerous minesites in the north; including an incredible opportunity in Ghana , Africa. Everywhere he went Gord collected friendships which lasted for life. Gord was a sport enthusiast, playing hockey, golf, baseball, fishing, hunting – but his enthusiasm mostly came from his belief that all sports ended with a cold beer or two, so who wouldn’t love to play? Gord had a large and loving family who were so important to him. He was incredibly proud of his kids and absolutely loved to spend as much time with them as he could. The addition of grandchildren was the icing on the cake and they certainly believed in go forth and multiply! Gord’s joy of family will be an incredible legacy. During Gord’s short illness we were surrounded by so many angels who supported us all. Too many to mention you know who you are, your love, support and caring made this difficult journey just a little bit easier.
