They raised seven children who all attended school in Merritt. He had 19 grand children.  <br>After his retirement he devoted as much time as his health would allow in  volunteer work,  that of telling others the Bibles hope for the future.  His favorite Bible passage was John 5:28,29, “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.”  <br>Douglas is survived by his wife Leona and his children: Cindy(Ed), Palma (Bruce), Divona, Cory (Tammy), Dorreen (Peter), Rayanne (Tim), and Rodney. His Grandchildren: Derek (Cheryl); Samantha, Austyn, Dustin; Devan, Jessica, Ashley, Tayler; Caleb, Kennan, Kyron; Barret, Rylan; Tristan, Kelly, Evan, Aryanne; Thomas, and James. Raised as a farm girl, she met the love of her life, Thomas Eggeson. They married  <br>Nov. 17, 1939 in Maidstone, Sask. after a 3 week courtship.  In 1956 they moved to Penticton, BC, later relocating to Merritt in 1961.  They raised four children, Ron (Carmelle) of Sparwood, BC, Glenn (Yvonne) of Duncan, BC, Ellie (Allan) Woods of Merritt and their 25th wedding anniversary present Kathy (Ken) Shumard of Kamloops, BC. <br>Her grandchildren Lee, Tracy, Cory, Amy, Tom, Drew, Michelle, Meredith, Nancy, Darren, twenty-one  <br>great-grandchildren, three sisters, Ruth, Georgina, Loretta and special friends, Marlien Sheridan and Jim Tingle are left with incredible memories. <br>Rose had a special knack for making all guests feel at home.  No matter when someone popped by or stopped in, there were treats in the cookie jar.  And at mealtimes, there was always enough for everyone.   <br>She enjoyed many activities such as crocheting,  <br>knitting and bingo at the Senior Citizen’s Hall. Most of all she enjoyed beating anyone at a good game of bridge. <br>From Merritt, Rose and Tom took special holiday  <br>vacations (camping) with family and friends. As a result Tom became an avid fisherman and Rose would pick all the wild berries she could get her hands on.  <br>She was pre-deceased by her husband Tom, her three brothers and one sister. <br>At Rose’s request there will be a private graveside service. It is there that he truly enjoyed his passion for skiing and became a ski instructor.  He returned to Vancouver in 1969 as a journeyman meatcutter for Safeway.  He lived many of his last years in Merritt, B.C. where he worked briefly for Overwaitea and Gulf Oil before becoming a respected supervisor for Emcon Services.  He loved the outdoor life of fishing and boating and spent many happy summers with family and friends at his favourite place, Sheridan Lake.  He had a warm, easy-going disposition and enjoyed a wide and varied circle of friends.
