Grandfather to Connor and Patrick Twohig, Stephanie, Clare and David Peacock, and Alex, Murray, Dexter and Vivienne Crowe.  <br> <br>Art was an avid canoeist, skier, golfer, outdoorsman and environmentalist. He was unfailingly optimistic, kind and considerate. He loved his family unconditionally, served his country and community faithfully and accepted life’s challenges with dignity. With his brothers Armando and Andrea, he grew up and received his public school education “up the Gulch”.  He went on to attend UBC and then joined the army.   <br> <br>Al returned to Trail to work for CM&S and it was there that he met and married Bea.  They moved to Tahsis, then to Kelowna, then Trail, and finally to Kimberley, where Al worked for Cominco as a chief steam engineer until he retired.  After retirement, Al and Bea moved to Vancouver Island, and then to Hope.   <br> <br>As a teen, Al was a member of the Trail Midget Smoke Eaters where they won the 1939/1940 BC championship.  He went on to play with the Trail Junior Smoke Eaters.  He continued to enjoy and participate in the sport as a coach for minor hockey, as a Kimberley Dynamiters fan, and a dedicated backyard rink builder for his own and the neighborhood children.  Al especially liked exploring BC’s outdoors. With his wife and children, he enjoyed camping, cutting firewood, collecting mushrooms, hunting and fishing.   <br> <br>Al was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Armando and Andrea, and his brother-in-law Steve Bonin.  He is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Bea) Cavallin, and his four children: Kim, Bob (Debbie Cavallin), Sherry (Fred Cleutinx) and Loren (Shaun Bergmann). Peter was preceded in death by his wife, Annie on March 6th, 2007; two brothers, John and Mike; and three sisters, Maggie, Mary and Katie. <br>Peter was employed at Cominco in Trail for 27 years. He loved playing cards, Crib and Whist and his greatest enjoyment in life came from maintaining his home and yard. <br>In respecting Peter’s wishes, he was cremated and his remains will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Annie in the Evergreen Cemetery in Grand Forks, B.C. on Thursday, July 9th, 2009. Born in Trail on April 29, 1925 Fred lived in Rossland his entire life.   <br>Fred was in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and has since been a Legion member. During his many years as a mechanic he worked at Rossland Co-op Transportation, Rossland Auto Service and the Department of Highways from where he retired in 1987. He enjoyed many hobbies and sports including wood working, huckleberry picking, travelling, curling and he was an avid football, baseball and hockey fan. Fred also believed strongly in giving back to his community. After he retired he supported meals on wheels as a driver, volunteered as a bartender at the Legion and spent many hours at the Rossland museum. The community spirit that Fred exemplified is on display for all to see in the restoration job he did on the vintage train car located at the Rossland Museum.   <br>Fred is survived by his step children Mervyn (Marlene) and Alan Fry, his grandchildren Brian (Lora), Teresa, Darrel, Daven, Glenn, Karen, Jeff and Leanne, and 7 great grandchildren Peter, Steven, Ian, Keegan Fry, Brooklyn, Hope Donovan and Leah Fry.  He was predeceased by his long time friend and love Jeanette Fry (1996), stepson Wayne Fry (1980), brother William, Mother and Father. <br>A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held at the Rossland Legion Friday June 19th at 11 a.m. with Minister Keith Simmonds officiating. Jimmy died without pain and peacefully in his sleep, in Kamloops, British Columbia, where he was being cared for by his daughter, Barbara Haight-Smith, her husband Ed and their family.  <br>Deeply mourning Jimmy’s loss is his daughter, Barbara (Ed), sister Daisy, sister-in-law Karla, longtime friend, Lorna, grandchildren, Bryan (Heather), Jeff, Laurie (Dean), Diana (Thomas), Jim (Hillary), Tracy (John) and great grandchildren, Alexis, Morgan, Mitchell, Kolten, Sierra, James and Wilson, and many nieces and nephews. <br>Jimmy was predeceased by his wife Nova in 1956, sisters Hazel, Kay, Belle and brother Kenny, his daughter-in-law Rose Marie in 1997, and his son Jimmy Jr. in 2001. <br>Jimmy Haight was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, where he came into this world weighing 13 pounds and possessing a deep passion and talent for playing hockey at a very early age, which subsequently led to an amateur hockey career. <br>In 1929-30 Jimmy began with the Saskatoon Wesley as a left wing defenceman, winning the Provincial Midget Championship. In 1930-31 he joined the Juvenile Wesleys, winning the championship that year. In 1930-31 went on to join the Saskatoon Wesley Juniors, where they went onto win the Saskatoon City Championship (Ross Memorial Cup), the Northern Saskatchewan Championship (Mitchner Cup) and the Championship of Saskatchewan (Corbeau Cup). <br>In 1934-35 Jimmy broke into the Nelson Maple Leafs. There the president of Cominco invited Jimmy to come and play for Trail over turning professional, and said they would look after him. They did! Jimmy never looked back, played for Trail and went on to become part of the greatest ambassadorship and hockey team in history, the TRAIL SMOKE EATERS #4, winning in 1937-38, the Championship of BC (the Savage Cup), the Championship of Western Canada (the Paton Cup) and the Championship of Canada (The Allan Cup). Finally, in 1938-39, as the Russian Father of hockey described them, the TRAIL SMOKE EATERS best ever pro or amateur hockey team he ever saw, won the WORLD AMATEUR HOCKEY CHAMPIONSIPS, leaving a legacy unmatched to this day. <br>In 1947 Jimmy moved to Rossland. He eventually retired from hockey to take up skiing, hunting, fishing and spectacular gardening. He remained with and retired from Cominco, who did take ‘good care of him’ as promised. Also remembering her life are her sisters Joanne (Vancouver) and Shirley (Vernon), and sister-in-law Phyllis (Vancouver), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. <br>Pat was predeceased by her husband Lindsay in 1989, her parents Maude and Paddy Dougan, and her brother Hunter. <br>Pat was a very accomplished musician, she sang in, conducted and/or accompanied many choirs, including the Trail Male Voice Choir and the Ac apella Singers, as well as performing with and directing the Rossland Light Opera Players. She was a piano and voice teacher to many children and adults in the Kootenays, and for many years was the organist and choir conductor at St. Andrew\'s Anglican Church in Trail, as well as playing at various other churches in Trail and Kimberley. <br>Pat was very involved in the Trail and District Arts community, not only as a musician but also as a painter. She had also been involved with Girl Guides of Canada in numerous capacities, as well as the Trail International Folk Society. In 1970, she was named Trail\'s Citizen of the Year. <br>A Celebration of Life service will be held in Trail at St. Andrew\'s Anglican Church at a later date. <br>The family sincerely requests no flowers. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the care, kindness and support provided to Scott by many school staff during some very difficult years. <br>Scott loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was an outstanding goalie in rep. hockey and was an accomplished guitarist. He loved music and enjoyed going to rock concerts, most recently Metallica. He had half-season tickets to attend the Canucks hockey games and supported them as they supported him, during the times he was hospitalized at BC Childrens’ Hospital. He cherished a particular memory when Trevor Linden had an extended visit with him in hospital. <br>In his youth, Scott loved to ski at Whistler/Blackcomb. The family vacationed regularly at their condo in the Bayshores and had season ski tickets at Blackcomb. Their close friends, Bill and Joanne McConnachie and their children, Brendan and Devon, were frequent visitors. <br>Scott loved to travel and most recently vacationed in Hawaii and was looking forward to traveling to Europe. <br>Scott enjoyed the benefit of having many close friends and relatives and was loved deeply by all. He was truly a charmer and will be remembered for never complaining about his personal circumstances. His personal email address sums it up: “Don’t look back in anger”. <br>He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, integrity, intelligence and love. <br>The family wishes to acknowledge the support provided to Scott by Dr. Mary Connolly, Head of the Neurology Department, and the staff of BC Children’s Hospital and the Vancouver Canucks organization. <br>Scott is survived his parents, Janet and Ken Morris (Richmond), his sister Pamela Morris (London, England); his uncles and aunts, Steve and Denise Morris (Burnaby), Brad and Janine Morris (Chilliwack), Dave and Helen Underwood (Fruitvale), Steve and Kelly Morissette (Fruitvale), Julie LeRose (Delta); his cousins, Amanda and Lisa Morris (Burnaby), Joey Underwood (Fruitvale), Chris Morissette (Fruitvale), Garry Morissette (Toronto), Mike Morissette (Fruitvale), Jake Morissette (Amarillo, Texas), Ginger Steven ( Trail), Jeremy LeRose (Victoria) and ‘Nanny’ Carol VanRyn (Surrey). <br>Please join the family in a celebration of Scott’s life by attending a memorial service on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Richmond Funeral Home, 8420 Cambie Road, Richmond B.
