MAVIS BARBARA Woodrow Walsh March 30, 1939 - January 13, 2010 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Mavis Barbara Woodrow Walsh. Mavis was born at Paddington Hospital and raised with her brothers (William, Terry, Samuel) in London, England. After immigrating to Canada Mavis married Robert James Walsh (November 07, 1940 - July 5, 2000 ) and created a family of three daughters; Susan (Joel) Branchaud, Karen (Edward) Wormald, Patricia Patrick (Rob Snyder), and four grandchildren; Carl Beshara, Tiffany Beshara, Jared Walsh, Michael Patrick. We would like to thank those who assisted the family in the last years of her life , Dr. Mestelman, Susan Neufeldt from elderly outreach, Cec, Donna, Sharon, and Linda from Memorial Pavilion at Jubilee hospital, and a special thank you to Dr.Michelle Fretz and her staff for always having the time for mum. At the family\'s\' request there will be no service, family and friends will have a celebration at a later date

Passed on January 3rd, 2010 in Victoria Hospice RJH from complications of ALS. He lived a fulfilling life and was firm in the idea that he’d done all he wanted to do in this life. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Please in lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the ALS Society of BC. A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday January 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

Vic Peters, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed December 31st, 2009 in Victoria, BC. He is survived by his mother Isabelle Peters, sister Patricia Kennedy, nieces Vanessa and Janelle, and nephews Fernando and Nicklaus. A memorial service will be held in his hometown of London, Ontario in the spring.
Vic’s life revolved around music, particularly the music of Jimi Hendrix. Over the years he came know Jimi’s sister Janie and was an avid collector of Hendrix memorabilia and wrote many articles on Jimi’s life and times.
Friends could always find Vic at Harpo’s Cabaret in the 90’s, catching up with visiting musicians/friends he had interviewed while hosting a radio show during his studies at Fanshawe College in London.
Vic’s family and friends would like to thank the nurses and staff at the RJH Renal Unit for caring for him so well over the years!
He was loved by many and will be missed.
Donations are gratefully being accepted by the Victoria Hospital Foundation, RJH Renal Unit in Vic’s honour.

Edie passed away Dec. 26th following a brief battle with cancer. She was 84 years young. Edie was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Bill. She is survived by her sweetie Dick, daughters Jody (Terry), Carmen (Howie), and by her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She had many friends & surrogate children (you know who you are!) who will miss her love, support, feisty nature and sense of humour. She loved us all. We miss her earthly presence but feel her spirit all around us.
A celebration of life will be held at the
Royal Canadian Legion Langford on
Thursday, January 7th at 1:00pm

The family of Debra Carroll Baker (nee Robertson), born August 27, 1955 is extremely sad to announce her passing on December 13, 2009 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Deb passed away peacefully in the care of family and friends at the Royal Jubilee Hospice.
She is survived by her beloved husband Cory, mother Lil, brother Terry, daughters Shawna Beaupre (Patrick), Megan Schultz, step sons Jody Baker and Lindsay Baker and 4 treasured grandchildren Ben, Noah, Abby (Shawna), and Hayden (Megan). She is predeceased by her father Ervin Robertson. Deb was born in Calgary and moved around before eventually settling in greater Victoria.
Deb was the “best daughter and mother ever and was very much loved”. She enjoyed walking her dog Buster, traveling especially trips to Las Vegas and Mexico, spending time at her beautiful house and garden, being with family, and having fun with family and friends. Deb touched the lives of many people with her smile, laughter, sly jokes, unconditional love, generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor throughout her ordeal. She worked at Sullivan’s Barber shop in Langford for many years and made many very close friends who have supported her unconditionally to the end.
There will be a celebration of Debs life at the family house in Langford on January 16, 2010, 1pm to 5pm. Please phone (250) 744 5416 or email dcbaker@shaw.ca for details on the celebration.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to SPCA, where Deb found Buster. The family would also like to thank the many people, especially the community care providers and those at hospice, for their support and comfort.

In precious memory of Serge Rene St. Laurent, who peacefully passed away on Sept. 29, 2009 at Victoria General Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Debbie, twins
Gavin and Daniel, mother Lynn, sister Susie (Jody), brother Daniel, many nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count.
Serge spent most of his life in northern BC, moving to Victoria eight years ago. He had a love of sports, with fishing, slo-pitch and badminton as his favourites.
He was a talented craftsman when it came to woodworking and boat models, with many a Prince Rupert fisherman having a sample of his work.
A celebration of Serge\'s life will be held at the Westside Bible Church, 3307 Wishart Road, Colwood BC at 2 pm on
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009.

JAMES ALEXANDER SMITH (ALEX)
Passed away suddenly on December 13, 2008 at age 55. Alex is survived by his long term partner Viki Hamber, son Chris Hamber, mother Eileen Smith and his sister Carol (Dave) along with numerous relatives. Predeceased by his father Jim, and his brother Rick. Alex was born and raised in Langford and was a long time employee at Royal Roads as a gardener in the Japanese Gardens where he took great pride in his work. His passion was his motorcycles and he was a member of the Victoria Motorcycle club for 34 years. Alex will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Happy Trails Alex!
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Roads University Foundation- Japanese Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Colwood Community Hall at 2219 Sooke Road on Saturday January 10 at 1:00pm.
