margin-bottom: 1em; min-height:110px;\"> 			Elda (nee Bisenthal) Freer passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 28, 2010 in Kamloops, B.C.  A Funeral Service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Revelstoke on Tuesday, February 9th with Pastor Richard Klein officiating.  Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2088, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Elda. <br> <br>Elda was born on December 27, 1925 near Windthorst, Saskatchewan.  She was one of 18 children.  Elda married Stan Freer in September of 1944 and they moved to Revelstoke with their four children in 1957.  Elda was involved in many organizations and clubs in the 52 years she lived in Revelstoke.  Some of these organizations included the Ladies of the UTU, Women of the Moose, Senior’s Choir, The Nomads and the Pythian Sisters. <br> <br>Elda was predeceased by her husband Stan, son Alvin and daughter Thelma. A funeral service was held on January 30, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Ronnie Tagnines celebrant.  Pallbearers were: Alex Arcand, Peter (Joe) Norman, Gordon McLeod, Dion St. Jean, Rick Gould, Paul Levesque, Barry Sopko and Jack Bracken.  Honorary pallbearers were Ted Laliberte and Dale White.  Flowers are acceptable, or memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 1P6, in memory of Murdock. <br> <br>Murdock was born in St. Paul Alberta January 16, 1922 to Francis and Josephine Poitras.  He has been a resident of Revelstoke since June of 1966.  Murdock worked for many years as faller for Celgar and D & A and then went on to purchase his first gravel truck.  He was a Teamster Owner Operator for many years up until his retirement in 1989. <br> <br>Murdock was predeceased by his parents Francis and Josephine Poitras, brothers Richard, Robert, Larry, George and Leonard Poitras, one sister Beatrice Sterritt and two sons Brian and Ronnie Poitras. <br> <br>He survived by his loving wife Rose of Revelstoke; children: Don (Marilyn) Piper of Paddle Prairie, Terry Piper of Paddle Prairie, Sharon Larson of Airdrie, Randy Poitras of Revelstoke, Roly (Angie) Poitras of Revelstoke, Raymond (Fran) Poitras of Revelstoke and Debbie Poitras of Kamloops; grandchildren: Brian, Lorilee, Kimberly, Ronnie and Eden Rose as well as four great grandchildren. Albert has requested there be a private family service.  He will be laid to rest beside his parents in Nelson, B.C. <br> <br>Albert was born in Czechoslovakia on May 12, 1926.  He came to Canada with his family in the fall of 1926.  Albert lived in North Star, Alberta until 1944, and then he joined the army and served two years.  He came to B.C. in 1946 where he worked in the bush and at sawmills until 1963.  He then worked in construction and drove truck and was a foreman for two years on the Revelstoke Dam.  Albert moved to Revelstoke in 1977 where he remained until his passing.  He will forever be known as “The Best Fisherman in Revelstoke” as is evidenced by the 25 lb., 8 oz. fish that Albert is holding in the photograph. <br> <br>Albert was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Augustina Zimmerman, his brother John and his sister Eleanor. V1Y 1P6 in memory of Jessie. <br> <br>Jessie was born in Greenock, Scotland on June 6, 1925 and had been one of the first women to serve as a police officer in Edinburgh, Scotland.  In 1964 Jessie and her husband, Malcolm moved to Revelstoke and were one of the first to build their home in Arrow Heights.  Jessie worked for the Revelstoke School District at Mountain View School for a period of time before she started her work with Telus and its predecessors Okanagan Telephone and B.C. Tel.  She was a member of Eastern Star for many years.  Jessie enjoyed genealogy and was able to track her family history back many generations. <br> <br>Jessie was predeceased by her parents and siblings and is survived by her husband of 51 years, Malcolm of Revelstoke; one son, Callum (Joanne) and granddaughter  <br>Mackenzie of Mission and daughter, Jane (Wade) Klody and grandson Eric of Harrison Hot Springs. <br> <br>Cremation arrangements are in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke. <br> <br>Jessie’s family would like to thank Dr. Alexandra Farrugia, Revelstoke Home Care workers and the staff at Queen Victoria Hospital for all the wonderful care over the past several years. At her side were her three daughters and lifetime friend and one time husband. She is survived by one brother William & Irene Snow of Victoria, daughters Ellen Lenzi of Revelstoke, Laura & David Fyles of Salmon Arm, Denise & Nino Giammarino of Kelowna and one son, Glen & Jennifer Davis of Leduc Alberta, also ex-husband Robert( Bob) Davis of Sicamous. She had 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  <br> <br>Monica and Bob raised their family in Summerland and later Monica moved to Victoria to work for the Government and be close to her two brothers. She spent many happy years there and made numerous friends. She retired in Sorrento to be closer to her daughters, where she enjoyed the area and the people very much. Recently she moved to the lovely Eagle View Manor in Sicamous where the staff and fellow tenants were most kind and caring. She was instrumental in having our Dad, her ex, as she would fondly refer to him, move to the lodge that was close by, and they spent a good number of hours reminiscing. <br> <br>Her heart grew tired, and being a strong and vibrant woman her whole life, when her memory started to fail her, she just wanted to go and so she did. That is just the way she did things. She was 85 on Dec 15. No service as she wished, but a celebration of her life, at the Shuswap Lake later this summer. He is survived by his brother Lorne, sister Faye (John), sister-in-law Susan; nephews: Shaun (Coralea), Ben (Jen) and Tyler (Nadine); and nieces: Sheila (Doug), Nicole and Chelsea. <br> <br>Arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke. 		</div> 		<div style=\"background-color: #eee; font-size: 0.6em; padding: 4px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; height: 1.4em;\"> 			<div style=\"float: left;\"> 			<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #006;\">MacDonald, John</span> <span style=\"color: #bb0000;\">Friday, 08 Jan 2010</span> 			</div> 			<div style=\"float: right;\"> 			Revelstoke Times Review Revelstoke,BC 			</div> 		</div> 		<div style=\"font-size: 0.6em; margin-bottom: 1em; min-height:110px;\"> 			Major John Ronald MacDonald, MMM CD <br> <br>It is with a profound sense of sadness and loss that we announce the passing of John Ronald MacDonald early on January 8, 2010 at Bastion Place in Salmon Arm, ending a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. <br> <br>John (Ron) was born to Neil and Nell (Sugden) MacDonald at Broadview, Saskatchewan on January 31, 1930 and moved to Greeley, then Revelstoke, British Columbia around age 5. <br> <br>As young men do, he had many career attempts, shoveling sawdust, trainman with CP Rail, Merchant Marine in Vancouver. He enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces Canadian Scottish Regiment in 1952. He was proud to become a member of the 2nd Battalion Black Watch and later transferred to the Canadian Signal Corps. His military career included 18 months in Korea, winters in the northern territories, Jamaica, Congo, Cyprus and more. John was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was presented with the Medal of Military Merit by the Governor General of Canada. <br> <br>His outstanding military career of 38 years culminated with Military Reserves and cadets including a substantial influence on the Cadet Corps at Revelstoke BC and Vernon Cadet Camp. After retirement from the armed forces, he enjoyed driving school bus in the Salmon Arm area. <br> <br>John and his family had many moves and postings across Canada and a year in Germany. While stationed in Camp Aldershot in Nova Scotia, he met and married Shirley (Barkhouse) in 1953. They have two children, John (Cindy) at Golden BC and Pamela (Steve) at Victoria BC. There are five grandchildren, Ashley, Tracey, Scott, Sheena and Kaitlin and one great grandson, Benjamin. <br> <br>John loved life and was a story teller. His passion was spending time with his grand children. His community involvement included various organizations and he participated in all levels of the Boy Scout movement and generally working with young people. Fun time was spent square dancing, curling, golfing, skiing, boating, and camping. John especially enjoyed his adventure of following David Thompson’s route over the Athabasca Trail from Edmonton through the Rockies to the head waters of the Thompson River in 1977. <br> <br>John was predeceased by his father, mother and brother (Hugh). He is survived and greatly missed by his wife, children and their families, sister (Sheila) and nephews Douglas, Robert, Dennis, William, Tony and niece Stephanie. <br> <br>The family offers a warm thank you to Dr Jack Beech for his exceptional caring over the years. We extend sincere appreciation to the staff at Bastion Place for their kindness and personal attention. Harmony Haven is also recognized for their significant contribution to the enrichment of John’s life. <br> <br>Funeral arrangements were care of Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium in Salmon Arm. A Celebration of Life Service was held at Bowers Funeral Chapel on Saturday 16 January 2010 at 11 am. On Monday, January 4, 2010, our mother passed away peacefully with courage, strength and dignity, surrounded by the love of her family.  A Funeral Service was held at the Revelstoke United Church on Saturday, January 9th, 2010 with Reverend Ken Jones officiating.  Pallbearers were:  Fred Wells, Mark Byrtus, Bill White, Louie Beaucage, Mike Loukopoulos and John Low.  Interment followed in the family plot of Mountain View Cemetery, Revelstoke.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice, in memory of Peggy. <br> <br>Peggy was born on April 7, 1930 in Pine River, Manitoba of Scottish immigrant parents, a heritage she was very proud of.  Peggy met her love John Gould and they were married September 16, 1952.  They eventually settled in Ladner, B.C. to raise their family.  In 1989, Peggy retired from the Delta Hospital where she spent many years caring for others.  Upon their retirement, John and Peggy moved to Revelstoke to enjoy their well deserved golden years. <br> <br>Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Herbert Craig, brother Ron Craig, infant grandson Steven Loukopoulos, son-in-law Ed Deverall and beloved husband John Gould.  She is survived by her 12 children:  Wayne (Brenda) Clark, Herbie (Colleen) Craig, Christine Deverall, Susan Baresinkoff, Patty (Mark) Byrtus, Michelle (Bill) White, Janice (Mike) Loukopoulos, Nancy Archambault, Kim (Louie) Beaucage, Angie (Fred) Wells, Mike Gould and Ricky Gould; 27 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sister Betty Roberts; sister-in-law Belinda Craig, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends she gathered throughout her life.  Peggy will always be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour, her compassion and charisma. <br> <br>Arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke. <br> <br>On behalf of the family, a thank you to the Queen Victoria Hospital acute care and Home Care Nursing.
