V1C 3H9, in memory of George. <br>George was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick on June 28, 1924 and had lived in the Golden area for most of his life.  He worked for the Town of Golden in many capacities but especially liked working at the arena where he could be found cleaning the ice on the Zamboni with his dog at his side. Bill was lovingly supported by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren prior to and during his last days.  Bill was 95 years of age at the time of his passing. <br>Bill was predeceased by his parents, wife Helen (August 18, 2000) brothers August, Matthew, Joe, Frank, John and sisters Louisa Walker, and Mary Essex.  He is survived by  his four children  Carol (Arnold) Penno,  Gerry (Marilyn) Kramer, Robert Kramer and Joan Kramer; grandchildren Sherry, Donna Loralie, William, Deborah,  James,  Allison and Sarah; 18 great  grandchildren  Crystal,  Ashley, Tyler, Jayme, Jorden, Larissa, Francis, Ryan, Rebecca, CJ, Asia, Derek, Evynne, Rayne, Myah, Zoe, Mimi, James;  and 5 great great grandchildren, Niah, Kiarrah, Braden, Morgan and Kaden.   He is also survived by his brother Albert Kramer and sister Rita Stewart as well as numerous nieces and nephews. <br>Bill was born June 25, 1915 on the farm at Usona, Alberta, the fifth child of Henry and Mary Kramer.  He married Helen Kimmel from the Falun district and together they farmed a quarter section next to his parent’s homestead.  Bill was bit by the forestry bug and started winter logging west of Rimbey, AB  in the mid 40s.  Eventually he sold the farm to his Brother Albert and in the fall of 1951 he and some of his hired men built a logging camp and sawmill at Castledale, south of Parson, BC.  Bill moved his family to the Columbia Valley January 2, 1952 and he started a custom planing mill at Nicholson in September of 1955.  Later on he acquired a portable planer and had that stationed in Revelstoke until it was destroyed by fire.  At that time he retired and he and Helen began a life of travel in the Fleury motorhome. They moved to Vernon in the mid 80s to enjoy a warmer climate in the winter. Bill moved into Carrington Manor in Vernon in 2002 where he enjoyed assisted living.  Bill was interested in everything mechanical and even joined the computer age when he was 82 years old. <br>Funeral Mass was celebrated August 21, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Golden, BC, with Reverend Father, James McHugh officiating,  followed by interment of his cremains in the Golden Community Cemetery beside his wife Helen. He rode the bus to High School in Golden. <br>Ron liked to ride snow machines & motorcycles and to fix old cars.  He also liked to paddle small boats in the sloughs and the river near his home in Parson. <br>Ron always had a big smile on his face for all the years we knew him. We will always remember him driving around in one of his many big old cars. <br>  After being employed at Evans Forest Products (now L.P.), Ron moved around quite a bit.  He drove grader in Cranbrook, worked paving in Kamloops & Revelstoke, and drove truck to Yellowknife and Alaska.  He was a companion to Kurt Hahn, and traveled with him and his paintings.  He spent time in Dawson Creek laying pipes, and in Salmon Arm picking fruit before he found his way to Vernon where he worked for Ace Contracting driving truck, and doing mechanic work on various machines. <br>Ron was predeceased by his brother Ralph in 1970, and his cousin David Johnson in 1975, plus many uncles and aunts. <br>Ron is survived by his parents, Clayton and Edie; his sister Jeni (Gary) Brock and family; his brother Jerry (Nancy), and family and his brother Lyle and family.  Ron also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. <br>Ron’s family would like to send a huge thank you for the flowers, cards, phone calls and all expressions of condolence; and also to the staff at the Vernon Hospital for Ron’s care prior to his death.    <br>We are especially thankful to his brother Lyle for taking on the responsibilities of the details of Ron’s death, as well as those friends who helped Lyle make some weighty decisions in Vernon.  <br>To all Ron’s friends in Vernon: Thank you for your kindnesses. He loved downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, hockey and the U.F.C. John tried to enlist in the Canadian Navy during World War II, but due to his young age was sent home until he was old enough to join.  The year after  World War II ended, John joined the Navy and served as an instructor for most of his 26 years with them.  John had earned a designation as a “shipwright” during his working years which meant that he could work on and build ships.   <br>On August 13, 1949 John married Gwendoline and during the Navy years they resided in Victoria.  After their move to the Columbia Valley, John worked as a millwright for the mill at Radium for 14 years. John tried to enlist in the Canadian Navy during World War II, but due to his young age was sent home until he was old enough to join.  The year after  World War II ended, John joined the Navy and served as an instructor for most of his 26 years with them.  John had earned a designation as a “shipwright” during his working years which meant that he could work on and build ships.   <br>On August 13, 1949 John married Gwendoline and during the Navy years they resided in Victoria.  After their move to the Columbia Valley, John worked as a millwright for the mill at Radium for 14 years. She was born in Ranfurly, AB on June 4, 1925. She lived in Edmonton, Calgary and Innisfail AB before moving to Abbeyfield House in Golden, BC in 2004. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne, and two brothers, Charles & Thomas; six sisters, Lorena, Nellie, Ethel, Lily, Lila and her identical twin Eva. <br>Edna is survived by one son, Byron; two <br>daughters, Linda & Lorna; son in law, Richard; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Sarah, and David. <br>In earlier years, Edna loved to cook, sew and look after her family. In lieu of flowers, donations <br>may be made to Abbeyfield House in Golden or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Memorial arrangements in Alberta will be made at a later <br>date. A celebration of Edna’s life was held at Abbeyfield House in Golden. It was her home for the last several years.
